End of the Year PBL Reflections

What did you learn?
I learned a plethora of different things in my short, but rather productive semester at The OH Institute. I've learned many useful things, from events about the history of WWII that I wouldn't have learned in a regular classroom textbook, to different writing techniques for college resumes and other papers that would most definitely help me in the future.

How do you know you learned it?
The other day my friend was curious about the holocaust, and started asking me many things like what started it, why did Hitler form concentration camps, etc. When she asked me, I was actually able to answer her with in-depth responses. I also remember a lot of facts from my student choice project, and a lot of people's names I had never learned before.

What got in the way of your learning?
The only thing that really got in the way of my learning was myself. It was my procrastinating, and my attention deficit that was pretty much the only thing that got in the way of my education experience.

What helped your learning?
One of the main things that definitely helped my learning was Mr. Randy and Mrs. Amy always being there for assistance when I needed it.

How did you feel about PBL this year?
I loved PBL. It really is the best way of learning I've ever experienced. The reason I really like it is because you can really do whatever approach on a subject you want, whether you'd want to do a prezi, a paper, or a ohpedia page, it's all up to you, as long as you can cover the standards via the project.

What was your favorite project? Why was it your favorite?
My favorite project was the student choice project. I covered something that really interested me, in a form that I felt most comfortable covering the standards of the project with. Last words had always interested me, and being able to do that project on them was a great way to go into depth about it. Throughout the project I had also learned things about many people I hadn't known much of before that I wouldn't have learned otherwise. Last words is a very personal, sensitive thing, so discovering those things about the people was a very interesting, and you somewhat develop a different feeling of personablility with those people in history

How will you use what you learned this year to help you with next year’s project work?
I will use all that I've learned to help me next year for presenting projects in a neat, organized form. These projects also prepared me for presenting in front of others, and getting out of my comfort zone, which will help me with my school projects in the future. The project work from this year will also help me with ohpedias of next year.
